About Me

I was born in the US, have lived in Japan, Australia and a little coral atoll in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I’ve lived so long in so many places I don’t identify with any single one. Hence – Myles “from anywhere”

I love long distance endurance running. Currently running marathons but looking forward to ultras eventually. When I run I like to do it away from civilization, to enjoy the peace, quiet and tranquility. Hence – “miles from anywhere”

I currently work and train in outback Australia, the Pilbara Desert, on an iron ore mine site 2 1/2 hours from the nearest small town. Hence – “miles from anywhere”

While I’ve run off and on since my early twenties, I’ve often gone years without running at all. It’s generally those birthday years ending in “zero” that motivate me back into fitness, especially as I’ve become more and more desk bound over the years. Most of my running has only been 2-5km with the occasional 12km fun run. But in July 2012 I started training for another 12km fun run due a few days after my 50th birthday. It was after that run, on the train home, that I talked to a rather out of shape looking guy who had just run the half marathon and thought to myself “If he can do it, so can I”. Within two weeks I’d upgraded my goal to a full marathon and began my training. This story begins here, September 2012.

Thank you for visiting my site. I hope some of the information is useful to you, and best of luck with your own running goals and dreams.

Welcome to my adventure.
